Authorized & Legal Online Sportsbooks of Indiana

IGC Approved: Indiana Licensed Online and Mobile SportsbooksIndiana Licensed Online and Mobile Sportsbooks Approved by the IGC

Times are rapidly changing across the American gaming community. 2018 marked a pivotal turning point, when the US government overturned a decades old law that prohibited wagers on sporting events in all states but Nevada. Since then, every state has had the right to authorize sports gambling. Indiana is among the earliest adopters of such laws.

Legislators in The Hoosier State chose to legalize sportsbooks at existing gaming properties, as well as offering licenses for online and mobile sports betting operations. In order to conduct an online sportsbook, operators are required to team up with land-based gaming licensees.

The first internet sportsbooks went live in October 2019, one month after land-based operators took their first wagers. Since then, Indiana has welcomed more than two dozen sportsbook operations, both on land and online.

IN Licensed Mobile Sports Betting Operators

When state officials were debating the possibility of an online sports gambling market in 2018, it was estimated that 57% of aggregate revenue would come from the mobile betting sector, increasing to 67% by year five. Due to the unforeseeable circumstances that arose in 2020, the mobile sector came in a bit higher then expected, generating 70% of overall revenue.

We’ve compiled a detailed list of all sportsbooks authorized by the Indiana Gaming Commission to operate over the internet. Details include a brief description of each offering, plus owner/operator specs, date of license approval and launch, mobile compatibility, etc. You can choose any operator from the list below to jump directly to its data segment, or continue scrolling to view them in turn.

Note that they are in order of launch date, earliest to latest; first come, first serve, if you will.

BetRivers Sports IN

Bet Rivers Sportsbook IndianaWhen online sports betting was legalized, Indiana’s famous French Lick Casino immediately sought partnership with Rush Street Interactive, the most experienced, real-money virtual sports operator headquartered on US soil. The name BetRivers comes from the company’s multi-state Rivers Casino properties. Their most famous sister-site, however, is PlaySugarHouse, which originally entered the New Jersey market in 2016, launching one of the first legal US sports betting websites in 2018, almost the very moment NJ lawmakers designated it legal to do so.

BetRivers Indiana is expected to uphold that same level of quality-on-demand here in The Hoosier State. Its license was the first to be approved by the IGC, and the website was one of two to go live on the earliest possible launch date. BetRivers Sports offers one of the state’s largest selections of sports lines, and the only 100% matching deposit bonus to come with mere 1x wagering requirements.

DraftKings IN Sports

DraftKings Indiana SportsbookEvery sports fan knows DraftKings is one of the premier producers of US daily fantasy sports. When Indiana legalized DFS a few years back, DraftKings was quick to apply for a license. It’s no surprise they would extend that license to traditional sports betting. They were, in fact, one of two operators to launch on the first eligible day in Indiana (the other being IN BetRivers Sports). Brand familiarity isn’t the only thing on their side. iGamers in The Hoosier State should also appreciate DraftKing’s provision of the largest selection of athletic events to bet on.

FanDuel IN Sports

Fanduel Indiana SportsbookFanDuel is Indiana’s other major daily fantasy sports operator, having launched a licensed DFS app in the state several years back. Like DraftKings, FanDuel wasted no time finding a land-based casino partner to extend its offering to legal sports betting. The company received a vendors license on day one, and has been open for betting since late October 2019. It is one of just two IGC licensed operators to offer both traditional and fantasy sports betting.

William Hill Sports

William Hill Indiana SportsbookWilliam Hill is another international brand, but one most sports bettors all over the world are familiar with. They joined forces with another common name in the casino business, Tropicana, going to market in late October 2019. They have a generous welcome package that can double or triple a player’s first deposit with free bets, but one of the smallest ranges of sports lines to place those free bets on. Only the most popular sports are offered; something we found oddly disappointing considering the brand’s 85+ years in the sports betting industry.

BetAmerica IN Sports

[Closed – See TwinSpires]

Bet America Indiana SportsbookIndiana’s Rising Star Casino teamed up with the digital arm of one of the oldest gaming companies in the country, Churchill Downs, to launch BetAmerica Sportsbook Indiana. Although it wasn’t one of the first betting sites to launch, it still seemed a little rushed; almost as if the company pushed the launch to get its product on the market before 2020. BetAmerica went live in Indiana on December 30, 2019, presenting a modest line-up of just a dozen sports lines to choose from. The sportsbook may appeal to those seeking the most popular athletics, but for serious sports fans, it may not be enough to satiate their betting appetite. The biggest problem – a gaping hole in their product, in our opinion – is the lack of a mobile betting app. As of writing, BetAmerica is only available in-browser.

BetMGM Sportsbook

Bet MGM Indiana SportsbookBetMGM is, of course, the digital wing of the universally renowned MGM Resorts. Similar to its land-based operations, MGM has made a point to dip its toes into almost every state where gambling is authorized. While BetMGM was a few months late to the party, they made sure to provide a good range of sports, enticing promotions, and a well-rounded desktop/mobile offering – not to mention an extremely aggressive commercial ad campaign. The overall design is a bit bland, but the website and app are straight forward and easy to navigate.

PointsBet Idiana

Points Bet Sportsbook IndianaPointsBet is a relatively new brand, established in Australia in 2017 and chaired by former TabCorp director Brett Paton. The company spread to the American market with the launch of PointsBet NJ in 2019, and has since branched out to Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. For its Indiana operations, PointsBet partnered with Hollywood Casino. The website went live in March 2020, boasting the second largest variety of sports lines in the state. They also list ‘Entertainment’ as a betting option, but to date, we’ve found no published odds for this category. To their detriment, PointsBet IN offers the lowest number of payment options, with no credit/debit cards or eWallets on the menu.

Caesars Online Sportsbook

Caesars Online Sportsbook IndianaThe name Caesars is synonymous with Las Vegas gambling. The company is piggy-backing off its own Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN, by employing in-house software from Caesars Interactive Entertainment. Revenue wise, that’s great for the parent company, but realistically, it could put a damper on things for Indiana’s sports fans. Caesars doesn’t have a lot of experience in real money iGaming, and it shows. It took them nine months to launch the website after receiving a license on day one. In all that time, they only managed to implant 10 sports categories on the betting menu. It would appear Caesars is choosing to cater to casual bettors only.

Unibet Sportsbook

Unibet Indiana SportsbookUnibet is a famous brand with years of experience in international markets, but very little in the U.S. Its first venture in America was the September 2019 launch of Unibet in New Jersey, and they haven’t exactly cornered that market, despite partnering with the universally renowned Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Here in Indiana, Unibet is aligned with Caesars Entertainment’s Horseshoe Hammond, but another late launch (July 2020) may keep the brand from ever realizing its full potential.

theScore Bet IN

theScore Bet IndianaThis operator is certainly getting its name out there into the US sports betting market, but that’s about all they’ve done in Indiana. If they’re not careful, the mere footprint they’ve stamped in the sand will be washed away soon enough. As they’ve done in other authorized states, theScore Bet provides its betting services via mobile app only (no in-browser betting). Unfortunately, the Indiana betting app lacks luster. It has very little in the way of features, and the fewest sports categories to bet on. If you’re not looking for baseball, basketball, football, hockey or soccer, you’ll be disappointed.

WynnBet

WynnBet Indiana

The Wynn name is synonymous with gambling; a staple of the Las Vegas Strip for many decades. Now, it’s tied to Indiana’s growing line-up of sportsbook operators. WynnBet was a little late to the game, but its seen a decent rate of customer acquisition, thanks largely to brand familiarity and a marketing contract with the equally recognizable Shaquille ‘Shaq’ O’Neal and a few other famous faces from the athletic locker room. After teaming up with Rising Star Casino, WynnBet is now offering sports betting in Indiana via desktop, mobile, and Android/iOS apps.

TwinSpires IN Sports

TwinSpires Sportsbook Indiana

TwinSpires launched in Indiana on April 21, 2021, but it’s been around quite a bit longer than that. It is the rebranding of the BetAmerica Sportsbook that launched in mid December of 2019. That betting operator was a complete flop, consistently reporting the lowest wagering handle among all the states operator since its inception. Its owner, Churchill Downs, finally did what it should have done from day one, scrapping the old name and rebranding to TwinSpires – the name already synonymous with Churchill Down horse race betting.  The transition was important, not just for brand recognition, but because there were so many problems with BetAmerica. TwinSpires has more sports to bet on, more deposit options to pay with, and best of all… there’s an app for that! BetAmerica was the only online sportsbook in Indiana that didn’t offer a mobile betting app.

Barstool Sportsbook

Indiana SportsbookBarstool Sportsbook is a popular betting brand owned by long-time gaming giant Penn National Gaming, which got its foot in the door late last year. Penn National took the slow-and-steady route by launching a retail Barstool Sportsbook within Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg and Ameristar East Chicago Casino. According to reports, the idea was to get Hoosiers familiar with the Barstool brand before launching in the online space.

Penn Sports Interactive received a temporary vendor license from the IGC in late March 2021, and following a few delays, finally got the ball rolling in May. Barstool Sportsbook now offer Hoosiers the option to bet online through any web browser, or by downloading its mobile app for Android and iOS.

Betway Indiana

Betway IndianaIndiana’s newest addition is Betway, a global gambling brand that’s been operating online sportsbooks, casinos and even eSports betting platforms. Established in 2006, the Betway Group came to the US market with impressive credentials in hand. These include memberships with the European Sports Security Association, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, and the Remote Gambling Association, as well as certification from international software testing agency eCOGRA.

With a range of top-tier sports betting options, Betway enters Indiana poised to compete. However, until it launches an app for Android and iOS (like the one currently offered to UK customers), it’s going to be hard to compete in a market brimming with feature-rich mobile sportsbooks.

BetIndiana Sportsbook

Bet Indiana SportsbookBetIndiana has been missing in action for well over a year now. Its operating wing, Indiana Sports Gaming, LLC (subsidiary of USA Sports Gaming, LLC), was granted a provisional license from the IGC in January of 2020. The company since stated that its launch of the online BetIndiana Sportsbook would coincide with its launch of a retail betting location within the Majestic Star Casino.

As most locals are aware, the opening of that casino has been delayed by numerous issues, including allegations of violating federal campaign financing laws against one of its key investors. While this has nothing to do with BetIndiana or its parent company, it has left them in an awkward, non-functional position. As of our latest update (9-1-21), no further news or speculative launch dates have been announced.

SBK Indiana

SBK Sportsbook IndianaSBK is a well-established retail and mobile sportsbook in the UK. Now, with the US market slowly opening to regulation, SBK is steadily making its way onto the smartphones of more and more Americans. The roll out in Indiana has taken much longer than expected. After receiving a provisional license in November 2020, SBK has yet to go live with a sports betting app in the Hoosier State. That’s all it will be, too – a mobile app.

SBK has historically remained an app-only provider of sports wagering services. Its website, www.getsbk.com, is only provided as a promotional outlet and to offer download links for its Android and iOS mobile apps. Customers will also find a bevy of links to things like company info, house rules, terms of service, and privacy policy information, but there’s no option to log in or place a wager via browser.
